Fabrice De Paepe

Fabrice De Paepe is a Senior Information Security and Governance consultant with more than 16 years of professional experience. Fabrice combines a technical background (former Sun Solaris System Engineer) associated with a can-do view that both lead to pragmatic approaches and enable business.

He’s been active in Information Technology since 1998 and a consultant since 2008. He owns a Master in Computer Sciences (University of Mons – Belgium 2008) and achieved the following certifications : ITIL v3 – CISSP – CISA – CISM – ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and Implementer – ISO 22301 Lead Implementer

A scuba diver in his spare time, he quickly found analogies between Scuba Diving and Information Security

He then founded Nitroxis Sprl in 2011. Nitrox is the common term in the diving community for any mixture of nitrogen and oxygen. “IS” stands for Information Security, Infrastructures, Information systems. The use of Nitrox has the advantage of increasing time and diving safety, it also provides welfare during and after diving.

Nitroxis is Accredited by PECB as authorised Training Partner, and Fabrice is also a PECB Certified Trainer.

He also has private interests in Cameroon and Africa.

Why I Joined The Analogies Project

“I joined this project because I believe that the analogies are a good point to quickly capture the attention of the audience or stakeholders. Over the years, I noticed that I repeat the same things about information security, whether at a meeting, in a course, in an elevator or at the most important place in the organization – the Coffee Corner. The idea of sharing our stories to a wider level so everyone can use, helps everyone in the long run.

I might be a bit naive with the following, but if all the CxO ‘s can be aware of the risks and what is information security, this would allow less fighting on trivialities and move forward again faster in customer satisfaction. We build the future successes of others and I am proud to be the part of the team.”
