Finding The Hidden InfoSec Story

Robert Hadfield

A foremost expert on information security awareness, Rob has worked in the industry for the last 11 years. His most recent role prior to setting up Secure Kangaroo was at British Airways, where he was responsible for information security awareness for all staff, as well as having held a number of other diverse technical and commercial positions in the organisation.

As Owner and Director at Secure Kangaroo Ltd, Rob provides consultancy services in Information Security – specialising in employee awareness as well as working with businesses to create and implement policies and procedures in order to safeguard their information, customer and employee data, integrity and profitability.

At Get Safe Online – the UK Government’s de facto source of advice for the general public and SMEs on online safety – Rob has overall responsibility for the content on as well as the printed and presentation material. He also sits on the organisation’s senior management team, helping to determine direction and future strategy.

Rob’s role at Get Safe Online also involves delivering regular educational presentations, with content that is informative, leading edge and pragmatic … and an engaging presentation style is both humorous and entertaining. This has made Rob a very popular speaker on information security awareness at UK and international events.

Why I Joined The Analogies Project

“Accepting the invitation to join The Analogies Project” was a no-brainer for me.

One of the most respected communicators of all time – that legendary adman David Ogilvy, famously said “If you’re trying to persuade people to do something or buy something, it seems to me you should use their language – the language they use every day, the language in which they think.” How true that is … not only in our sector but in every walk of life.

Also, way back before I got into information security, I always found the ability to express facts and concepts as analogies to be the most effective … not only engaging audiences at the time, but making sure the information was securely embedded. I hope our readers find my contributions of value.”
